The town of Martina Franca is rich in history and monuments and is only 4 km from the villas of the Borgo delle Querce. It is possible to reach it by taking a pleasant walk on foot or by bike through the quite rural road, enjoying the beautiful landscape of the Apulian countryside. The town of Martina Franca is dynamic with the presence of many commercial activities, and its characteristic markets. The city market takes place every Wednesday morning, complete with clothing, gifts and groceries, while on Saturday morning only fruit and vegetables. In these markets you can directly feel the generosity of our land with the presence of numerous local products in abundant quantities and also very cheap. Baroque Martina Franca is characterized by a beautiful baroque historic center with its typical narrow streets and beautiful monuments such as Basilica San Martino, Palazzo Ducale, Arch of Santo Stefano and Sant’Agostino’s Village. Important events held in Martina Franca include the Itria Valley Festival (July and August) and the San Martino Fest (11 July). Martina Franca is rich in typical products, from pasta, to mozzarella, to capocollo, wine, taralli and seasonal vegetables, and with great surprise it is also possible to find excellent fresh fish. The typical products can be tasted in the excellent restaurants scattered throughout the territory and in particular we recommend I Templari, Ristorante Pizzeria da Gianni, Villa Bacco Restaurant. It is also possible to buy all these products in the recommended shops such as: Caseificio La valle, Caseificio Pioggia, Caseificio Fragnelli, Macelleria Romanelli, San Marco Cellars, IOnis Cellars, San Pietro Bakery, Gastronomy and Gourmet, and enjoy them in the tranquility of the Borgo delle Querce villas.
